Elderberries protect against evil and negativity when carried alone or added to protection sachets and potpourris. They are also a common
ingredient in dream pillows for protection while sleeping.

Sacred to many mother-aspect goddesses, Elder is a powerful protector when used in sachets and hung over doorways, and has the added bonus of attracting wealth and good luck.
For magical workings, Elder represents protection, wealth, and sleep.

A yellow flowering plant, elecampane is added to incense, potpourri or sachets. It is burned to repel insects. For magical workings, Elecampane is added to love charms and amulets, and used while scrying for better results.

The oil and leaves of the eucalyptus plant are commonly used to aid breathing problems. The scent is strong and clean. For magical uses, the leaves can be placed in the room of a sick person, or can be used to make a healing sachet.

Another highly protective herb, Fennel is sometimes hung around doorways and added to sachets to keep evil spirits at bay. It is also used in healing rituals.

Fleabane has ancient roots in excorisms and ridding a home or person of evil presenses. It is always a good idea to include fleabane in any home
protection sachets.

Frankincense is a dried resin which melts much like sugar when heated. Used as an incense, the very strong scent will linger long after it has finished smoldering. For magical workings, Frankincense is excellent for purification, centering, and consecration.

Galangal is a root from the ginger family. It is very aromatic when warmed, and is a great addition to simmers or incense. For magical workings, Galangal is useful for courage, strength, and some say for avoiding legal problems.

Ginger is a very aromatic dried root added to potpourri, incense or sachets created with the intent to draw money. It is also popular in love and protection sachets.
For magical workings, Ginger represents love, money, success and power, and is frequently used to "boost" the power of spells.

A useful additive to protection or healing potpourri or sachets. For magical workings, Goat's Rue represents uncrossing spells, hex anitdotes, and protection
from negative energy.

Similar to Myrrh in appearance, Guggul (called Bdellium in ancient Hebrew, Greek, and Latin texts), is an ancient incense burned primarily for protection and purification.

Gum Arabic is an all-natural glue. When the powdered resin is mixed with water (preferably warm), the mixture becomes thick and white. When added to ignitable incense powder, the resulting clay-like mix can be shaped into cones and allowed to dry, creating a hand-crafted cone incense. For magical workings, Gum Arabic has a binding property that can strengthen charms.

Hawthorn berries promote happiness and are carried to relieve depression and sadness. They are also used in potpourri or sachets to increase fertility. For magical workings, Hawthorn Berries promote fertility and protect the home.

Heather is used in protection sachets, especially for protection against violence. It is also considered a lucky herb. For magical workings, Heather represents luck, protection, and is burned with fern to attract rain. It has also been used to conjure spirits.

Hibiscus, like red rose, is added to any incense, potpourri or sachet to induce passion and love. It is also added to incenses created for divination purposes.
For magical workings, hibiscus represents love, lust, and divination.

Honeysuckle is the petals from the buds of the flower. The fragrance is sweet and floral in potpourri or incense. For magical uses, Honeysuckle represents the Maiden, youth, and new beginnings.

Hops are dried flowers from the vine, aromatic, and used for it*s soothing quality. Many sachets created to promote peaceful sleep contain Hops. It can also be put into a relaxing incense. For magical workings, Hops encourages calm, and can assist with healing spells.

Used primarily in sachets and ritual baths, horehound represents protection against evil, as well as strength of character, and sharp wit.

Hyssop is one of the most widely used protection herbs known in magic. It is added to protective sachets, incense, baths, burned, or sprinkled
around a house to invoke protection. For magical uses, Hyssop represents protection and hex breaking.

Blue powder, extracted from four different plants, primarily for use as a colorant. When mixed with alcohal, makes a fine blue ink suitable for magical workings. Also said
to burn with a blue flame.

Mosses grow on the ground, and are particularly useful in Earth-related incense or potpourri. For magical workings, Irish Moss is useful in spells involving money, grounding, or the element of Earth.

Ivy is a good luck herb. An amplifier of sorts, Ivy is added to increase the power of any sachet or spell, be it love, healing, or protection.

Made from the dried flowers of the vine, Jasmine exudes a lovely floral scent and is used in potpourri, incense and sachets. For magical workings, Jasmine is used in charms invoking love, protection and for using the power of dreams.

Juniper Berries are small fragrant berries that are wonderful additions to incense or potpourri. For magical uses, Juniper Berries represent purification, improving memory, and mental clarity.

Kelp is granulated or powdered form of seaweed. Very few herbs can be used as symbols of the water element, but as it comes from the sea, kelp is one of them. For magical uses, Kelp represents the Element of Water, and protection at sea.

Lady's Mantle has a long history of magical uses. It was once believed that the dew collected on the leaves had magical powers that could lead followers to the philosopher's stone. Lemongrass, a common tea, can be added to various sachets and potpourris created for home protection. For magical uses, Lemongrass represents lust and magical powers.

Licorice is added to love and lust sachets and incense. An infusion of this spritzed on bedsheets on a fullmoon is said to inspire passion.

Lotus is dried leavesfrom the water bloom that can be added to potpourri or sachets for a mild floral scent.
For magical workings, lotus represents fertility, spirituality, the struggle to achieve enlightenment, and is used in most Egyptian and eastern magic.

Mace is the powedered outer covering of a nutmeg, and has the same magical properties.
It is also burned to increase psychic powers.

Maidenhair is used exclusively in rituals involving beauty and the goddess. This herb represents the glory and grace of the feminine Spirit.

Mandrake is an ancient magical herb, used in spells that involve power, protections, fertility, and lust.

Mugwort is an ancient Druid herb that has it*s roots steeped in magic. It*s dried cottony leaves are mixed into incense, potpourri, and in ancient times were stuffed into shoes for a more comfortable journey. For magical workings, Mugwort is used for consecrations, dream magic, protection, and safe travel.

Whimsically called "Eye of Newt", Mustard Seed is added to sachets for protection and luck. It is also
sometimes sprinkled or even buried near doorways for protection of the home. For magical workings,

Myrrh is the resin from a thorny tree. It is burnt alone or mixed with other fragrant herbs or resins. For magical workings, Myrrh is used for healing, mending emotional wounds, and purification.
